Free careers, skills and jobs event set to support Gainsborough residents
Residents looking for work, considering a new career direction or wanting to develop their confidence and skills are invited to attend a free careers, training and jobs fair in Gainsborough next month.
The Careers and Training Fair will take place on Wednesday, October 7, at the Riverside Room, Bridge Street, Gainsborough.
Delivered with support from West Lindsey District Council, ACIS Group and the DWP, the event will bring employers, training providers and community organisations together in one place.
Attendees will be able to find out more about current vacancies, career routes, training opportunities and the practical support available to help them move closer to employment, further learning or progression.

ACIS Group, a local housing and training provider employing around 300 people, will be joined by Riverside Training and CLIP (Community Learning in Partnership), with advisers on hand to help people build confidence, improve their skills and explore their next steps.
Mark Purkis, Engagement Manager at ACIS Group, said residents would be able to learn more about the range of opportunities available through their organisation.
He said: “We’re looking forward to speaking with people about the roles, projects and pathways available across ACIS Group. Our team will be sharing practical advice, guidance and information on the day to support people with their job search and help them understand the skills and training opportunities currently available.”
Running from 10am to 2pm, the event will give residents the chance to speak directly with employers, training providers and specialist support agencies. Visitors will be able to explore local vacancies, career options and training routes, ask questions, receive advice on applications and make useful face-to-face connections.
Wayne Bark, Employer and Partnership Manager for the DWP, said: “This event is about turning interest into action. By bringing employers, training providers and support services together, we can help local people make direct connections, understand what employers are looking for and take practical steps towards work or training.”
West Lindsey District Council is sponsoring the fair and supporting efforts to connect residents with employers who have current opportunities available.
Amanda Bouttell, Employment and Skills Lead at the Council, said: “We want residents to feel that opportunities are within reach. By supporting this fair, the Council is helping to create a welcoming space where people can build confidence, learn what is available locally and feel encouraged to take their next step towards employment, education or training.”
ILIOS is among the employers confirmed to attend. The company has been appointed by UK Fusion Energy as the construction partner for the STEP Fusion Programme at West Burton and will oversee all aspects of construction at the site.
Paula Quinn, Skills, Impact and Engagement Director at ILIOS, said: “The STEP programme is expected to create significant employment opportunities as construction progresses, with activity at West Burton anticipated to support up to 8,000 onsite jobs at peak.
We are proud that STEP is already delivering skills and employment outcomes for the area and delighted to attend this event to showcase future opportunities for local workers, apprentices and businesses.”
The DWP will contact registered job seekers to offer them an appointment to attend, while residents who are not registered are also encouraged to come along and discover what support and opportunities are available.
Employers who would like to attend, or anyone seeking further information, should contact Stephanie Cross at [email protected]
