The Darron Childs Practice (DCP) has raised thousands of pounds for charitable causes over the last ten years involving a diverse range of sponsored activities such as a sky-dive, the Ten Tors challenge, and a series of mountain, moors, peaks and dales walks including The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, which took place last September.

And now the business has presented £1,000 to the Riverside Indoor Bowls Club (RIBs) based in Gainsborough.

Part of the money was raised at a charity slide show and night of nostalgia at The Blues Club organised by Darron and Thelma Childs in April last year and they dedicated the event to former well-known nurse, Phyllis Peart.

Darron Childs has paid tribute to the trustees of RIBS and their supporters, especially those who have been directly affected by the effects of Covid-19, including good friend and supporter, the late Jim Allsop, and Roy Enever, who were tireless in their efforts to establish a community indoor bowls facility since they lost their battle to keep their long-standing home at Gainsborough’s West Lindsey Leisure Centre.

Darron has presented the funding to RIBs trustees Iris Mallen and Linda Grocock.

Darron said: “Covid-19 has been a significant setback to all charities and the entire sports community.

“Despite this, Iris and Linda remain hopeful that a solution for their future ambitious plans can hopefully be found in the not-too-distant future.

Richard Kane of The Gainsborough Trinity Foundation is also keen to support, as part of an initiative to establish a new community sports hub at the former Roses Sports ground.

Richard said: “The Foundation is pleased to work alongside RIBs in their quest to try and find them a new home.”

On behalf of all the trustees at RIBs, Linda and Iris wished to express their thanks to all supporters and fundraisers in the community.
