Game firm grows with bank backing

A game business near Boston has expanded its premises, its client base, and its workforce, after receiving support from the HSBC bank.

The growth at Lincolnshire Game Company, an independent supplier and retailer of game products, comes courtesy of a loan and overdraft facility from the bank.

It has been drawn from a £150 million small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) fund held at HSBC, specially for businesses in mid-Lincolnshire and the Fens.

The money has enabled the business, based off the A17 at Swineshead, to install an additional cold storage facility at its commercial premises.

The expansion has helped the company fulfil new client contracts, including a partnership with a leading supermarket.

The loan, which was backed by the Government’s Enterprise Finance Guarantee scheme, has also provided the business with the money to purchase new equipment and double its workforce.

Since fulfilling its supermarket contract, Lincolnshire Game Company has broadened its network in Europe and secured further international opportunities. The company has also secured sufficient out-of-season orders to maintain its workforce year-round and guard the business against seasonal peaks.

The business expects to increase turnover by 50 per cent and double its client base in the next year, as well as improve profit margins.

Tristan Kirk, co-director at Lincolnshire Game Company, said: “This expansion has transformed our business operations. We’ve been able to install advanced refrigeration units, helping us increase our client base, decrease costs and create 20 more jobs in the local community.”

Stephen Evans, HSBC area director for Mid-Lincolnshire and the Fens, said: “The £150 million SME fund for small and medium businesses in mid-Lincolnshire and the Fens is here to support businesses like Lincolnshire Game Company to expand.”
