Guidance to TSB customers in Skegness ahead of branch closure

TSB on Roman Bank in Skegness is to close on April 1.

Closure of the bank at 22 Roman Bank on April 1 was announced in October last year.

It is one of two in Lincolnshire to close - the other being at West Street in Long Sutton.

In total the bank will close 164 branches across the country.

There will be 969 job cuts but 120 new operational roles are being created.

However, customers will be able to access their accounts at Post Offices in the area.

A spokesman for National Federation of SubPostmasters said the closure would "doubtless be disappointing to TSB’s customers in Skegness .

"Each of these branches offers banking services - including deposits, free cash withdrawals and balance checks, as well as offering face-to-face access to government services, bill payment, foreign currency, travel insurance and, of course, postal services," the statement reads.

"There are currently 2,000 free-to-use ATMs installed across the UK post office network also.

"Post offices are proving vital to retaining people’s and business’s access to cash as the banks continue to desert the high street in order to cut costs and increase their profits.

"Post offices need to be protected as a key means for accessing cash, and legislation is required to ensure this. As such, the NFSP have worked closely with Duncan Baker MP on the “Banking Services (Post Offices) Bill”, which was presented to Parliament on 2 March Stopping the slide into a cashless society (nfsp.org.uk).

"The Bill requests that legislation be introduced to protect banking services via the PO network.

"Every post office plays a vital role within the heart of the local community. Post offices provide a reliable and essential service which has continued at a high standard across the whole of the UK throughout the pandemic."
