A number of larger properties, including Belton, opened to visitors at the beginning of June.

Like all other properties that are opening, Gunby will be using a booking system that will be managed centrally by the National Trust, so social distancing can be maintained and to keep the team and visitors safe.

The gardens will be open Wednesday to Sunday, so that the team can safely carry on with the gardening on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Opening times will be 10am - 5pm, with last entry an hour before closing time.

To start with, there will be 84 tickets available per day, which may increase over time.

Admission is free to members, but there is a charge to any non-members who wish to visit. All payments are taken online so that the team does not have to handle any cash on site.

Visitors arriving in vehicles will be met by a member of the team requesting booking details as they enter the new car park. They must arrive within the 30-minute slot booked, but once there can stay as long as they like.

The house, tea-room and shop remains closed for now, but visitors are welcome to take along a picnic and enjoy it on the main lawn. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome on leads.

Toilets will be cleaned a minimum of three times a day, along with all touch points. Gates will be held open so visitors don’t have to handle them. The usual access service is not available at the moment, including the hiring out of the wheelchairs and mobility scooter.

However, the drive has been freshly surfaced and the potholes filled in, and is lovely to walk up at the moment as the parkland is in full bloom and the Lincoln Reds are grazing with their calves.

Much of the team are supporting the National Trust by remaining on furlough leave, but as opening is slowly increased, and visitor numbers rise, the will be welcomed back gradually.
