Location for new Post Office in Skegness found - but progress delayed

The opening of a new main post office in Skegness has been delayed by Covid-19, in spite of a location being agreed.

Lockdown forced an earlier than expected closure of the Post Office branch in the former Beales Department Store in Lumley Road.

Since then residents have been wondering when another location will be found.

The Post Office has reassured customers an announcement about the new Post Office will be made once details have been finalised. A spokesman said: “We do have an interested retailer, however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, there are delays progressing the proposal due to the interested retailer currently being closed. We will announce our plans as soon as we are able.

“Please be assured that we are committed to providing a Post Office in this area of Skegness as we know how important Post Office services are to communities.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure. In the interim alternative branches in the area include Drummond Road, Burgh Road and Winthorpe.”
