Mollie Crossland, a manager at Mr Chips, decided to cook all the leftover fish, chips and fishcakes on Saturday evening and deliver a well-earned tasty treat to the doctors, nurses and other staff at Louth County Hospital.

Mollie told the Leader: “I didn’t want to waste the food, and I know how hard doctors, nurses, and all staff within the NHS work so thought they’d enjoy a little treat. They were overwhelmed and very grateful!”

Meanwhile, her brother Oliver Crossland - who owns both restaurants - donated a batch of fresh produce from The Ranch to Madeira House Care Home and the hospital.

Oliver said: “It was disappointing but essential that we closed for the safety of our customers, our team, and their families.”

On the subject of the food donations, Oliver added: “We felt like it was the least we could do with everything going on and the risks and stress they must have going on at the moment. After all this has blown over I’m sure we’ll look back at our NHS and its staff and never take it for granted again.”
