New festive event rings bell with Christmas shoppers

Bell’s Gardening Outlet in Benington has added the seasonal event to its annual calendar off the back of its popular Pumpkin Festival, which runs for most of October,

Event co coordinator, Ruth Brown explained: “It was a tight deadline to get the market and displays up and running in time, but we got the job done with plenty of festive cheer”.

The indoor market is open every day from now until Christmas and is based on the picturesque markets of Germany.

“We’ve gone large on beautiful baubles and the more unique traditional decorations and gifts, such as nutcrackers, snow globes, Russian dolls, musical toys etc - things you cant really get on the high street”, said Ruth.

An additional pop-up outdoor Christmas Market features a host of local artisan businesses, who sell their wares every Saturday and Sunday.

It is hoped that, given enough support, the Christmas Market can grow and become an annual event for the local community.

The German Christmas Market is open 9am-5pm Mon – Thurs. 9am-8pm Fri-Sat, and 10am-4pm Sunday.

Festive fun such as the Elves Workshop, for wreath and bauble making, Christmas Tree Courtyard, Poinsettia House and Santa in the lit woodland are open from now until Christmas.
