New tenant for former bank and Grade II-listed ‘eyesore’ in Boston
No 7 High Street – the former home of HSBC – is to be the future home of Alan Boswell Insurance Brokers (ABIB).
The business, which is currently based in Red Lion Street, aims to complete any renovation work and start welcoming clients to the building from August.
It says it hopes the move to a more prominent location will demonstrate its commitment to the town.
Ian Hill, commercial team leader at ABIB, said: “We’ve been established in Boston for 46 years now, previously as Sutcliffe Insurance Brokers & Weller, Russell & Laws, but as Alan Boswell Insurance Brokers for the past three years. We’re very much here to stay and hope that people and businesses local to Boston are keen to support their local high street.
“We’re providing genuinely independent, expertise on all matters of insurance both commercial and personal, as well as financial advice and risk management.”
Alan Boswell Insurance Brokers is part of Alan Boswell Group, one of the largest independent insurance brokers in the UK with 10 branches across Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, and Lincolnshire.
No 7 High Street was vacated by HSBC in 2011.
It was built for the banking company of Gee, Wise and Gee in 1864.
In 2013, the Civic Group of Boston nominated it as their ‘mess of the month’ through the pages of the Standard, describing it as a ‘an eyesore next to a thriving hotel which welcomes many visitors to the town’ and said its frontage should be maintained.
