'Over the moon!' -- hair and beauty salon in Woodhall Spa celebrates national award

The re:new Hair and Beauty by Expressions business hailed “an incredible achievement” after taking home the best salon team accolade at The Salon Awards 2025.

Sponsored by Revlon Professional, the awards are one of the most respected and anticipated events in the UK hairdressing calendar, recognising creativity, technical excellence and business success across every area of the industry.

The re:new salon on Coronation Road, co-founded and co-owned by Wendy Griffin and Julie Charles, qualified as finalists by being named best in the region.

And a panel of independent judges named it the national champion at a glittering ceremony, held at the iconic Manchester Deansgate Hotel.

The panel was made up of respected experts in hairdressing, salon business, marketing and design, and the judges focused on originality, client experience, professionalism and overall impact.

This year’s event, which welcomed finalists from counties including Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire, Yorkshire, Merseyside and Staffordshire, was one of three regional celebrations hosted throughout the UK.

Each event is exclusive to the counties listed, with winners only revealed on the night for the corresponding regions.

The awards nights include a sparkling reception, a three-course dinner, the announcement of winners and a fabulous after-party, giving finalists, teams and industry leaders a true night to remember.

The business, which used to be known solely as Expressions, occupies the historic former Woodhall Spa Baths building after a makeover and labour of love by Wendy and Julie three years ago.

The award is the second feather in the salon’s cap in recent weeks. For one of its ‘rising stars’, 26-year-old stylist Demi Forrest, made her live stage debut at the prestigious Salon International event in London last month.
