'A hugely exciting moment' - Plans go in for Wendy's drive-thru restaurant near Boston

Plans have been revealed to open a branch of global restaurant chain Wendy’s near Boston, potentially creating up to 40 jobs.

An application has been submitted to Boston Borough Council to bring the brand to The Quadrant, at Wyberton, Poyntons Consultancy has announced.

The business said it has completed the sale of a roadside plot at the Chestnut Homes development to Papas Hospitality Limited, a key franchise partner for Wendy’s.

The application sets out plans for a drive-thru restaurant, incorporating a 40-seat internal dining area and takeaway facilities, it says.

The scheme will also provide customer parking with EV charging, accessible bays, cycle provision and landscaped surroundings, it adds.

Founded in 1969, Wendy’s has thousands of locations worldwide, but only 50 in the UK (according to its website), with Lincoln and Peterborough being the nearest.

“The submission of a full planning application for Boston marks a significant moment for the town and reflects growing national confidence in its future,” a spokesman for Poyntons Consultancy said.

“The development is expected to create up to 40 new jobs, further strengthening Boston’s evolving retail and leisure offer and building on the momentum already established at The Quadrant.”

Jack Fairman, of Poyntons Consultancy, said: “This is a hugely exciting moment for Boston. Securing a deal of this scale with a major operator like Papas Hospitality and for a globally recognised brand such as Wendy’s is a real statement of intent for The Quadrant.

“We are seeing unprecedented levels of interest from national operators, and this deal demonstrates the strength of Boston as an investment location.

“The Quadrant has rapidly established itself as one of the most prominent roadside schemes in the region, and we are proud to be at the forefront of bringing forward developments of this calibre.”

The Quadrant comprises a 69-acre mixed-use development fronting the A16, home to Boston United’s Jakemans Community Stadium and a growing number of national brands.
