Amy Reet had been touring the UK doing gigs with a new girl band called Xelle, which has had to be paused under the travel restrictions.

She has also been running a children’s entertainment service called Ice Queen Princess Parties since 2014, based on the lead characters from hit Disney films Frozen and Frozen 2.

Amy, 30, explained: “We have been doing lots of princess parties and I played Elsa for the BBC’s One Show in Leicester Square. I do it with my sister and we have performed at the Aston Villa stadium and taken it to Spain. I travel quite a lot as a professional singer but currently having to stay at home in Folkingham.”

She came up with the idea of doing video calls a couple of weeks ago when she found herself unable to visit her parties, with most being cancelled under social distancing rules.

Instead, to make up for the disappointment, parents have arranged for her to contact their children and sing to them and chat about life in the castle. Amy said: “It has gone pretty well. You should see their faces when they answer the phone and see Elsa.”

Usually she has researched a bit about the children from the parents to make it more personal.

She said: “I will start by singing and talk about what I have been doing in the castle and mention there has been a bug going around so I cannot visit - just keep it light-hearted.

“I have had children show me every single toy and we have sung songs together.

“I’ve had a lot of really good feedback from parents, so it is rewarding for me and the children.”

Amy recalls: “One girl was supposed to be going to Disneyland and couldn’t because of the lockdown. I started singing Happy Birthday and she was just amazed.

“Some of the parents are working for the NHS. It is just something to bring a smile.”

Under the circumstances, Amy has decided to keep her rates low at £10 to make the video call and provide the entertainment.
