Retired racing greyhounds helped by generous donation from Woodhall Spa store
Retired racing greyhounds are barking their thanks after a generous donation made by a shop in Woodhall Spa.
The Fen Bank Greyhound Sanctuary, based at Friskney, near Skegness, is a registered charity dedicated to the protection and re-homing of the greyhounds.
And so impressed with its service were staff at JJ’s Garden Centre and Independent Pet Store on Witham Road in Woodhall Spa that they decided to support it.
The shop has now donated more than £300 worth of Natures Menu dog-food to the sanctuary, which sent along one of its volunteers to collect it.

A spokesperson for JJ’s said: “Fen Bank Greyhound Sanctuary does an absolutely incredible job caring for and rehoming greyhounds who deserve nothing but love, comfort and a second chance.
"With about 20 beautiful greyhounds currently looking for new homes, its work is more important than ever.
“For us at JJ’s, this was simply our way of saying thankyou because people who give so much to animals deserve a bit of love back. We were proud to donate the food.
"Thankyou Mick Fern and the whole Fen Bank team for being such genuinely good humans. Days like this remind us that kindness is alive and well.

The sanctuary provides comfortable, spacious accommodation for dogs of all ages who have come from all over the UK.
It takes in greyhounds from many sources, including trainers, owners, the police, the RSPCA and other welfare groups.
Some have been victims of cruelty, including dogs with physical and emotional scars, while some are dangerously under-weight and others are seriously ill from neglect.
The sanctuary cares for them in warm kennels, gives them daily walks and provides large paddocks for exercise before trying to find them homes in which to spend the rest of their lives.
JJ’s garden centre and pet store, which can be found next to JJ’s Fuel Station and has its own ‘Doggy Deli’, is open from 9 am to 5 pm on Mondays to Saturdays and from 10 am to 4 pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
