The launch night of the project is next week at Spilsby Methodist Church, when an announcement will be made about what spectators can expect this year.

Bruce Knight, of Spilsby Threatre, is once again working with Simon as part of the Different Light Collective to light up the town on March 6-7, after last year’s successful pilot and the event securing funding from Arts Council England.

Mr Knight said he hoped the theatre’s involvement would quash rumours the theatre is in trouble: He said: “Although Spilsby Theatre has been on the national Theatres at Risk Register since 2015, the risk of permanent loss has been hugely reduced due to the work of the Spilsby’s Sessions House Project.

“Our community volunteer group the Sessions House opened up a temporary lounge venue in part of the building in February 2018, hosting regular community fundraising events and community groups - these are still ongoing and we have held more than 250 events in the last two years.

"There is a growing “friends” supporters group with about 150 members and we won support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Architectural Heritage Fund and the Theatres Trust to commission Architects and Consultants to put to together a full viability report for the venue as a Community Arts Centre.”

Spilsby Light Night launch is on Wednesday, February 12, from 5.30pm to 7pm.
