Stars of Skegness' businesses shine at awards ceremony

Skegness Business Awards took place at the Southview Hotel on Friday evening.

The glittering ceremony was the conclusion of a rigorous judging process at which each business had been visited and challenged on their claims in their entries.

In addition, the winner of the public website vote for the Visitor Attraction of the Year was revealed.

The annual event is promoted by the Skegness Business Area Chamber to encourage and reward business effort and success.

They have designed the categories to reflect the wide range of business activities and make the town successful as a whole.

The evening was hosted by BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Melvyn Prior and featured three- course dinner, followed by the presentation of the awards.

During the course of the evening, £580 was raised for the RNLI and this was boosted to £1740 by the generous donations of Natureland Seal Sanctuary and Micornclean.

RNLI representative Mairi Perry said: “I am overcome by the generosity of Skegness businesses.

"This has been a fantastic evening and I am delighted that we have been invited as honoured guests and to receive such a sum is overwhelming”

Andrew Ayres, of County Linx Radio, commented: “It has been a fabulous evening. The presentation gave details of the finalists businesses and you cannot fail to be impressed by the range and quality of the businesses”

At the end of the evening Paul Dixon, chair of the Skegness Business Area Chamber, announced that Micronclean was the Skegness Business of the Year.

Green Award (Sid Dennis and Sons) - Taylors Hair Studio

Best Accommodation (Click Ink Design and Print) - Beach Cottage Anderby.

Visitor Attraction of the Year ( Wilkin Chapman) - Lincolnshire Wildlife Park.
