The Moon Under Water, in High Street, has been awarded a platinum rating in the Loo of the Year Awards 2020.

Inspectors make unannounced visits to thousands of toilets at sites across the UK in order to judge them, issuing ratings of silver, gold, platinum or diamond with unacceptable toilets not graded at all.

The toilets are judged against numerous criteria, including décor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing and drying equipment and overall management.

The Moon Under Water – a Wetherspoon pub – won platinum last year and gold in 2018.

A spokesman for the chain said: “The quality and cleanliness of our toilets is an important aspect of running a successful pub.

“We are delighted with the award which shows that staff see it as a priority.

“We will strive to go one better next year and aim to achieve a diamond rating.”
