A Leicestershire-based engraving business is re-locating to Ruskington as it embarks on a mission to support children across the country with their STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) education through woodcraft programme.

Create and Engrave is the brainchild of former STEM teacher Radha Borthayre.

It started out as a hobby, with Radha making engraved items for family and friends as gifts, but evolved into a business, with pieces being made to order.

Now, though, it is changing tack to focus on children’s woodcraft subscription boxes – packages containing small wooden builds for budding engineers to paint and make up following child-friendly instructions.

The move to the site in Ruskington (pictured) will facilitate this change.

Radha, 37, says she is setting out to create ‘awe and wonder’ moments through the boxes, to support children that are home-schooled, in lockdown or unable to access mainstream education.

The boxes enjoyed a sell-out launch last month and been met with positive reviews from parents nationwide.
