British Sign Language courses available for Lincolnshire’s learners

Lincolnshire County Council is helping fund and deliver sign language learning courses for residents.

Lincolnshire County Council’s Adult Skills Programme has launched ‘Introduction to British Sign Language’ as its latest course available through tailored learning funding.

Coun Liam Kelly, executive councillor for Growth and Veterans' Affairs, said: “Our adult learning team support hundreds of skills development programmes right across the county, and this initiative is the latest in a long line of fantastic courses.

“Sign language is vital for many in our county, including some veterans, who may not have been born deaf, but through their service developed hearing impairments. Developing and maintaining a method of communication with loved ones and services can help reduce isolation and drastically improve quality of life.
