Community’s festive season visits for care home residents
Staff and residents at a Sleaford care home have been enjoying special seasonal visits by schools and the community in the build up to Christmas.
Jilly Hunt, manager at Ashdene Care Home, said they are having a fabulous run up to Christmas and so far have had visits from Carre’s Grammar School students and Eslaforde Nursery who made a hand made card for each resident.
They have also had a visit from RAF Cranwell with a small band.
She said: “They were outstanding and the residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves, followed by homemade mince pies enjoyed by everyone.”

Still to come is a visit from Louise, a singer who is donating her time for free, the William Alvey School, St George’s Academy and Little Gems nursery.
The home will be having its Christmas party December 18 with Tara Stafford Allen entertaining, followed by an afternoon of singing and dancing on December 22 with Trevor – the residents look forward to his regular visits. Jilly said: “Then of course on the big day itself Santa and helper will be attending both Ashdene and Oakdene to give out the presents. We have had a naughty elf visit who has been very mischievous playing all sorts of pranks which both the residents and staff have roared with laughter at.
“We would like to say a big thank you to the people of Sleaford who always come through and make sure that our residents are entertained and visited and made to feel special and for the continued support from RAF Cranwell and we look forward to the new year and wish everyone a happy and healthy 2026.”
