Firefighters and cadets raise hundreds from charity car wash
Crews and cadets at Sleaford Fire Station chose a very hot day for a charity car wash on Saturday (May 23).
Firefighters and Sleaford Fire Cadets were on standby with buckets, sponges and hoses to offer car washes for donations to the Firefighters Charity and raised a fantastic £651.
The event was held at Sleaford Fire and Ambulance Station on Eastgate and firefighter Joshua Hunt thanked everyone for their generosity.
He said: “Our sincere thanks to everyone who came along, donated, and supported the event. We’d also like to say a special thank you for the (donations of) ice creams and cold drinks throughout the day – they were very much appreciated by the team.”
The biggest challenge was keeping the cars wet enough to clean them due to the soaring temperatures!
Josh said: “A special thank you also goes to Ash Jonson and the Sleaford Fire Cadets for organising the day and helping make the event such a success.
“The support from the local community means a great deal to us, and the day really showed what a wonderful community we have. The kindness, generosity, and support shown by everyone helped make the event such a success, and we’re incredibly grateful.”
