Around 7,500 Guides and Scouts from Lincolnshire, the UK and around the world have gathered at Lincolnshire Showground for the Poacher International Jamboree 2026
The young people arrived at the showground on Saturday for the 12th time since 1977. Nearly 8,000 Scouts and Guides representing 20 countries are living together under canvas in four ‘subcamps’ - Africa, Americas, Asia, and Europe for seven days and nights until August 8. Together it creates the 12th largest settlement in Lincolnshire for a week!
The event’s theme is, ‘a world adventure of a lifetime’, with the opportunity to participate in over 100 different activities focusing on fun, adventure and challenge - from archery to zorbing and drift bikes to kayaking.
On top of adventurous activities, the Jamboree is showcasing the best of Lincolnshire with day trips to Lincoln Cathedral, Castle and Zoo.
The £1.7 million event is run by over 3,000 dedicated adult volunteers who have been planning the event for three and a half years. Andrew Selby, Jamboree Lead, said “it is fantastic to see thousands of Guides and Scouts from around the world in Lincoln for Poacher 2026. They have the opportunity to immerse themselves in adventurous activities, make lifelong friends and experience the best of Lincoln. None of this would be possible without the commitment of three thousand volunteers and leaders, whose hard work has made this adventure a reality.”
