Leading Lincolnshire homebuilder donates bird boxes to local school
Barratt Homes donates bird boxes to Enfield Academy of New Waltham, supporting the pupils to learn about local wildlife.
Leading homebuilder Barratt Homes has donated a set of bird boxes to Enfield Academy of New Waltham. The school, which is located one mile from its Wigmore Park development, happily accepted the donation to support its RSPB Big Schools Birdwatch activities.
The RSPB’s Big Schools’ Birdwatch is a nationwide event that encourages children across the UK to learn about birds and take an active role in wildlife conservation.
Joanne Lowe, Principal at Enfield Academy of New Waltham, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this generous donation from Barratt Homes. The bird boxes will make a real difference to our outdoor learning environment and will help our pupils take an active role in caring for local wildlife.
“The RSPB Big Schools’ Birdwatch is always a highlight in our calendar, and these new resources allowed the children to observe, learn and connect even more closely with nature. We’re very grateful for the support and excited to see which feathered visitors choose to make our school their home!”
Barratt Homes hopes the bird boxes will inspire the pupils to take an active interest in the local wildlife, birdwatching and conservation. The observations recorded by the children will contribute to the RSPB’s data, empowering the pupils and encouraging their natural curiosity.
Paul Hogan, Sales Director at Barratt Homes Yorkshire East, said: “We’re proud to support Enfield Academy of New Waltham’s activities during the RSPB Big Schools’ Birdwatch. Activities such as this are great opportunities for pupils to engage with the environment and learn about the local wildlife.”
