Lincoln Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers striking contest
Did anyone wonder why All Saints’ bells in Gainsborough were ringing on Sunday evening recently? In fact, it was a practice for a striking competition. The ringing was good, and “in with a chance” was the verdict.
The competition was judged by David Phillipson, Chairman of the North Bucks Branch of the Oxford Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers.
If you would like to see Gainsborough bells in action and perhaps learn to ring, do get in touch with the ringers via the Parish Office [email protected] or 01427 611036.
People living in West Lindsey can direct their enquiries to our local branch secretary, Debbie Scarf, [email protected] Four ringers in the team are accredited by the Association of Ringing Teachers to train new recruits and proper safeguarding measures are in place. There is no cost involved, apart from getting out of bed on a Sunday morning to ring for church services!
