A cricket club is celebrating after receiving a donation from Persimmon Homes.

Lindum Cricket Club, in Lincoln, received £6,000 from the housebuilder after applying to its Community Champions initiative.

Hamish Falconer MP was on-hand to present the cheque to the club, crediting the club for its “vital role” in bringing the community together.

The donation will help the club “thrive” and will allow it to invest in facilities for all teams to use.

John Alford, Lindum Cricket Club Chairperson said: “Receiving this funding is really great and it will directly support our aim to grow the game locally.

“This money will go towards widening access to cricket, strengthening our junior and women’s pathways, and ensuring we can offer inclusive opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. We are very grateful to Persimmon Homes for this opportunity.”

Hamish Falconer MP said: "I’m delighted to see Lindum Cricket Club receiving this £6,000 donation through Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme. Local sports clubs play a vital role in bringing people together, supporting young people, and strengthening community spirit.

“Investment like this helps ensure clubs such as Lindum Cricket Club can continue to thrive, improve their facilities, and provide opportunities for people of all ages to get involved in sport. It’s great to see businesses supporting grassroots organisations that make such a positive difference locally.”

Charles Bratton, Persimmon Nottingham Head of Land said: “It was a pleasure to visit Lindum Cricket Club and hear about the positive work the club is doing in the community.

“At Persimmon we want to leave a lasting impact in the areas we build and we hope this donation goes far in supporting the club.”

Lindum Cricket Club has junior cricket opportunities for under-9s up to under-15s for boys and girls and is accepting new members who want to develop their skills.
