Sleaford Leisure Centre providing a Warm Space for people in need this winter
Anyone who may be struggling with the rising cost of living, seeking somewhere warm, or feeling socially isolated can visit Sleaford Leisure Centre this winter.
GLL, the charitable social enterprise that manages Better leisure facilities on behalf of North Kesteven District Council, has designated the centre an official Warm Space.
The Warm Spaces scheme was first introduced in 2022 to support communities during the colder months, particularly as rising living costs continue to impact households. This year, Sleaford Leisure Centre will provide a friendly, warm environment, with free tea and coffee for those in need.
The Warm Space at Sleaford Leisure Centre is available on Wednesdays and Fridays, from 12pm-2pm offering a safe space to relax, take a break from the cold, and make use of free Wi-Fi and device-charging points.

Commenting on the Warm Spaces initiative, Chris Ord, GLL partnership manager for North Kesteven, said: “The winter months can be particularly tough for many people, and as a charitable social enterprise rooted in the community, we’re committed to offering support. Our team is ready to welcome anyone who’d like to drop in. It’s a chance to stay warm, meet others, enjoy a hot drink, and feel part of a supportive community.”
The Warm Spaces scheme was the first of its kind for the leisure industry when it launched in 2022. This year 49 Better leisure centres spanning England, Wales and Northern Ireland are taking part. For further information visit: https://www.better.org.uk/healthy-communities/warm-spaces.
