Special carol service at Boston Stump will give shoppers a break

Stressed-out Christmas shoppers in Boston on Saturday afternoon (December 14) can take a break at 2pm to enjoy carol singing at the Boston Stump.

Mayor of Boston Coun Helen Staples and her Mayoress Jennifer Oglesbee will welcome the congregation to a special carol service in aid of one of her chosen charities, the homelessness charity Framework.

Admission is free, everyone is welcome, and free non-alcoholic mulled wine and mince pies will be served afterwards.

Rector of St Botolph’s, Father David Stephenson, will lead the service with the Parish Choir and Organist leading the singing.

Those attending will hear the story of one of the many people helped by Framework and the charity’s Director of Homelessness Services, Steve Watson, will give the address.

In the summer Councillors Staples and Oglesbee met staff and service users at Medlock House, Framework’s principal accommodation in Boston.

Reflecting on her involvement with Framework, Mayor Staples said: “This aptly-named charity offers so much to people in need – a safe haven in which to live, guidance, support and advice to help rebuild a broken life. l am deeply touched at how committed every member of staff is and how the wellbeing of all service users is paramount to them.

“The Mayoress and l are keen to engage with the work of our chosen charities and we learned so much during our visit to Medlock House, finding the place bright and light with a tranquil atmosphere. Neither of us had fully appreciated the level of support Framework offers to its service users or the dedication, love and compassion given to all those who seek help.”

In addition to the service, Framework and their supporters are offering a variety of other ways to support its work this Christmas: a Christmas single, Christmas cards designed by young supporters, and sustainable stocking fillers are just some of the ways to help raise funds.

‘Don’t Want To Be Alone This Christmas’ was recorded by long-time Framework supporter Andrew Randell who first fundraised for Framework as a busker. He has teamed up with lyricist Amanda Moss to produce this seasonal single which is available for download from all the main streaming platforms.

The winning Christmas card designs from a competition involving young Framework supporters are available from Framework’s online shop at https://frameworkfashion.co.uk/gift-guide. The shop is also the perfect place to find sustainable stocking fillers and gifts to celebrate the season with compassion and style. All profits go to Framework.

Claire Eden, Framework's Head of Fundraising and Communications, said: "We are delighted with the public's initial response to our appeal this winter to help keep our services going. We hope people enjoy the carol service and can give generously. Those unable to attend the service can still make a donation at www.frameworkha.org/SOS.”
