109 schools in Lincolnshire now with confirmed Covid 19 cases

Chapel St Leonards Primary School (open, Hogsthorpe Primary Academy (open) and Great Steeping Primary School (closed) have been added to the list of schools affected, which yesterday (Wednesday) stood at 100.

In Alford - where some Skegness pupils are educated - three schools have confirmed cases, including John Spendluffe Technology College which is closed. The others are Alford Primary School (open) and Queen Elizabeth Grammar School (open).

The new statistics reflect the latest reports East Lindsey, including Skegness and the surrounding coast, is now the fourth worst affected area for Covid-19 cases in the country, with , with 787 new cases registered over the past seven days.

East Lindsey's infection rate per 100,000 has risen to 555.3.

Andy Fox, consultant in public health, said: "As of this morning, Lincolnshire's Health Protection Team is currently working with 109 schools that have had confirmed cases of coronavirus. All schools are taking action to limit the potential spread of the virus, with some pupils and staff self-isolating as a precaution where necessary.

"The majority of schools remain fully open, and those affected are working really well to limit both the risk of the virus spreading and the impact on the pupils' education."
