A-levels 2026: Results at Louth’s KEVIGS soar

King Edward VI Grammar School has announced an exceptional set of A-level results, with some of the strongest outcomes the school has seen in recent years.

An impressive 88 per cent of all A-level grades were awarded at A*-C, with 63 per cent achieving the highest A*-B grades, marking an outstanding year for the school’s Sixth Form.

Behind the headline figures are some remarkable individual achievements. Of particular note are three students that received laudable grades across four A Levels: Harry achieved A*A*AA, Ivan achieved A*A*AA, and Ben achieved A*AAA alongside an additional A grade in his Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

Across the year group, students are now preparing to take their next steps, with the vast majority securing their first-choice university destination, apprenticeship or employment.

“These are exceptional results, and I could not be prouder of our students. They have worked incredibly hard, shown real determination and ambition, and today they are seeing the rewards of those efforts,” stated Sam

Cassidy, headteacher. “To see almost nine out of every ten grades awarded at A*–C and nearly two thirds at A*–B is a fantastic achievement and reflects both the ability and commitment of our students and the expertise and dedication of the staff who have supported them.

“But results day is about much more than statistics. Behind every grade is an individual story, and what matters most is that our students are leaving KEVIGS ready to take that next step – whether that is university, an apprenticeship or employment. As Louth’s only post-16 provider, we are incredibly proud to offer young people from Louth and the surrounding area an ambitious and high-quality Sixth Form education. Today’s results demonstrate just what our students can achieve.”

Kevin Gallacher, Head of Sixth Form and Assistant Headteacher, added: “It is a privilege to see our students receiving the results they have worked so hard for. There have been some truly outstanding individual performances, but what is particularly pleasing is the strength of achievement across the whole year group.

"Our students are now moving on to an exciting range of universities, apprenticeships and careers, and we wish every one of them the very best for the future.”

The results come as the school continues to broaden its post-16 curriculum and opportunities for students. Alongside its established academic offer, students can now choose from an expanding range of subjects including Law, Criminology, Computer Science, Accountancy and English Language. Prospective students and their families will have the opportunity to find out more at the school’s Sixth Form Open Evening on Wednesday, September 30, where they can meet staff and students, explore the Sixth Form and learn more about the courses and opportunities available.

Having been founded by royal charter in 1551, King Edward VI Grammar School is one of the oldest schools in the country.
