The Vale Academy has also been honouring those who fell at the Somme.

To mark the centenary of the Battle, the academy invited students, parents and governors to take part in its commemoration event to coincide with the time 100 years ago when the soldiers went ‘over the top’.

On the sporting front, handball students put North Lincolnshire on the handball map, under 14 footballers came from a goal behind to beat Baysgarth School in the final of the Scunthorpe and District Cup and it was a fantastic year for netball, which was crowned by three teams representing North Lincolnshire in the Humber Schools’ Games finals.

The Year 11 prom will take place this week at Hemswell and term ends on July 21.
