Mr Porter said: “I am incredibly impressed by the way this year’s Year 13 have conducted themselves through this unprecedented situation. They have shown great stoicism in the face of unparalleled circumstances.

“I taught many of them when they were in Year 11 and have taught almost half of them this year as A Level English Literature students. I know them incredibly well and I want to take this opportunity to wish them well as they go on to make their mark in the world.

“They are an exceptional year group and they will go on to do big things in the future.

“I also want to thank my staff for the quality of the teaching that they delivered throughout the last two years, it is that teaching that has seen this year group educated to such a high standard.
