'Come and see what we're all about' -- open event at The Farm School in Louth
An open event is to be held this Saturday (May 9) to give visitors the chance to have a look round a school with a difference in Louth.
The Farm School, based at the South Ormsby Estate, inspires young people and children through hands-on learning in a natural farm setting.
And it opens its doors to the public from 12 midday to 3 pm for a free event that invites people to “come and see what we’re all about”.
Promising fun for all the family, the event will feature nature activities, stalls, food and refreshments.

It’s to be held at the school’s venue at Wood Farm (LN11 8QU), where parking will be available in the stack yard. Visitors should note the event will be cash only.
The Farm School works in partnership with the local community, including schools and other youth organisations, to encourage young people to thrive using the natural resources of the environment, animals and plants.
It is run by its founding directors, Amy Jones and Lauren Lawrence. Having worked closely together since 2020, they decided to make use of their collective skills and knowledge, and better serve the community from which they both originate.
The Farm School concept was born out of a need to encourage young people to appreciate their rural surroundings, where their food comes from and how they can have a positive impact on the world, no matter how small.

The school prides itself on young people growing through hands-on experiences that foster confidence, teamwork, and resilience.
Explains Lauren: “Beyond the classroom, they learn essential life-skills, understanding where food comes from, practising sustainability and caring for the environment.
“It’s a place to connect with nature, build practical knowledge and develop a strong foundation for the future.
"We provide meaningful opportunities for children and young people to grow, learn, and thrive, both personally and educationally. Our holistic approach supports development in a positive, nurturing environment.
“Through a variety of services, we proudly support and enrich our local community in many impactful ways.
"We host varied sessions on a weekly basis, such as home education sessions and preschool sessions, and we host school trips, visits and referrals.”
