St George's Church of England Community Primary School in Lindsey Close, Gainsborough, announced its plans in a letter which was sent out to parents and also shared on the school’s Facebook page.

Katie Barry, headteacher, said: “We are excited to be able to announce that we have bought an additional two mobile classrooms.

“This means we are actually going to have 11 classes in the future, rather than just nine.

“The reason for this is so that we can significantly reduce the number of children in each class bubble – they will now have approximately only 20 children in them instead of 30, some of the smallest class sizes in the whole country.

“This will help in our fight against Covid-19 and is also a significant learning opportunity.

"We hope you are also pleased and reassured by this exciting news.”

Lessons will start back at the school on September 7, and it was hoped the classrooms would be in place by then, however they have been delayed.

Mrs Barry added: “The planning process has taken a little longer than we had hoped so these classrooms will not be ready for the very start of the school year.

"So we will only be able to move some children into their mobile classrooms once they are ready which will probably be by the middle of September.”

Parents are invited to two open days which are being held at the start of September so they can ask any questions before classes start.

Mrs Barry said: “Everybody will have a chance to look around the school and ask any questions before lessons get underway.”

You will be able to book a slot time for the open day sessions fro September 1, which are at 9.30am and 1.30pm on Thursday, September 3, and Friday, September 4.

The school promotes Christian values and part of the school’s vision statement says: “At St George’s we feel safe and secure.

"We are like a happy caring family where everyone wears a smile.
