Matthew Van Lier said the school was ‘delighted’ that the Government dropped the controversial algorithm it had planned to use to allocate grades.

Describing 2020 as unique, Mr Van Lier said: "We are extremely proud of our students, who have been justly rewarded for the hard work and commitment they have given to their studies over the last 5 years.

“We are absolutely delighted the Government and Ofqual finally recognised the algorithm that had been used had led to an unacceptable number of anomalous results, which was then cancelled in respect of GCSE exams.

“The class of 2020 can now go forward with their results to the next step in their education, or vocational pathway, knowing that they have been recognised for their commitment to their studies. We wish them the very best of luck.”
