GCSE results: King Edward V1 Academy principal 'immensely proud' of students

James Myhill-Johnson, whose academy is part of the David Ross Education Trust said: "Every one of the year 11 members of #TEAMKEVI have shown sheer drive and determination throughout their time with us and more so in the last few months where they have continued to show a fantastic work ethic and commitment to the work being set remotely by their teachers.

"This year is certainly unprecedented in what these students have faced and they have continued to work hard on GCSE work as well as transition work in readiness for the next stage of their lives, be that 6th form, college or an apprenticeship. They quite rightly deserve the fantastic grades that they have achieved and will forever be valued members of TEAMKEVI.”

The following students did particularly well in their GCSEs and will go on to pursue a number of exciting post-16 paths:

Blake Finlay-Smith achieved grade 9 in mathematics, combined science, economics, and computer science as well a grade 8 in English language, a grade 7 in geography and a grade 6 in English literature. He is going on to study Level 3 computer science at Boston College.

Chloe Games achieved grade 8 in English language, English literature, art and history, a grade 87 in combined science, grade 7 in computer science and a grade 5 in French. She is going on to study A- levels at KEVI’s own sixth form.

Isabella Gipps achieved a grade 9 in English literature, a grade 8 in English language, grade 6 in history and economics, grade 5 in mathematics, Biology and French and a grade 4 in Physics. She is going on to Skegness Grammar School to study A-level courses in preparation for a career as an economist.

Amy Russell achieved a grade 8 in English literature, grade 7 in English language and history, a grade 6 in biology, a grade 5 in mathematics and physics and grade 4 in chemistry and French. She is going on to Skegness Grammar School to study A-Levels in English language, English literature and sociology.

Ewan Scutt-Taylor achieved grade 7 in mathematics and combined science, a grade 5 in geography, grade 4s in English language, English literature and RMT. He is going on to Bishop Burton college to study game and wildlife management.

There have been some outstanding results for individuals, notably Blake, Chloe, Isabella, Amy and Ewan.

“Clearly this year has been extremely challenging, and we are committed to supporting every student make the right decisions about their next step, whether that is into the right courses at our 6th form or onto other destinations of choice.

“As well as my congratulations to each and every student, I want to pay tribute to our staff – none of this would have been possible without their outstanding support and tireless work to guide our students safely through the trials and tribulations of the recent months.”
