Rosie Devos, 16, raised around £700 after a full school hall cheered her on to lose her full head of hair during the Friday lunch break.

She said she was inspired by the loss of her grandmother Greta Devos to cancer last year.

Rosie gasped when she touched her bare head and said it would take a bit of getting used to. “It feels prickly,” she said. “I chose to do it in the winter because of the risk of burning in summer.”

She said she would be growing it back, having previously donated her hair to a charity to make wigs for children who have gone bald undergoing cancer treatment.

People can also help patients by giving blood.
