Lincolnshire housebuilder bolsters pupil wellbeing with donation to local primary school

LINCOLNSHIRE housebuilder Chestnut Homes has partnered with a local primary school to help support the mental wellbeing of its pupils through the donation of a collection of wellbeing and play equipment.
The donation to Billinghay Church of England Primary School included breathing and mindfulness boards, alongside a range of playground resources such as beanbags, skipping ropes and a Playground Pals Kit. All items were chosen to help pupils feel calmer, more connected and excited to play.
Making the donation particularly special was the involvement of the children themselves. Members of the School Council took the lead by collating suggestions from their peers on which playground donations would make the most significant impact on their daily lives, before working with the Chestnut Homes team to finalise the selection.
Robyn Pedley, marketing manager at Chestnut Homes, said: “Partnering with schools across Lincolnshire to help support the wellbeing and learning of the younger generation is something we’re extremely passionate about as a local business. We want to create communities that allow young minds to blossom, and donating this equipment is a small but meaningful way we can make that happen.
“Having the school council guide us on what they felt would truly make an impact was invaluable. It was a pleasure to hear their ideas and see their enthusiasm for their school community.”
The donation was made during Children’s Mental Health Week and ties in with the theme of this year’s campaign 'This is My Place', which focused on supporting the systems around children and young people to help them feel a sense of belonging.
Danielle Clarke, lead for relationships and health education at Billinghay CE Primary School, said: "We were absolutely delighted to receive such a wonderful donation for our pupils. These resources will support not only the children's play but also their wellbeing too which is so important during these important years of development.
"The children were so happy to be involved in deciding the items they thought would benefit the school the most, and are looking forward to making the most of the new equipment."
One of the pupils added: “Playtimes are going to be so much more fun with these nice new things to play with!”
Chestnut Homes has been based in Lincolnshire for almost 40 years, following it launch in 1988. Since then, it has remained committed to supporting the local communities across the county, with a particular focus on the younger members of Lincolnshire through regional school partnerships.
