Executive head teacher of Market Rasen and Nettleton Primary Schools Andrew Smith said reopening has gone so well that more parents have now come forward, requesting a place for their child.

Mr Smith said: “The children are adapting very well to the new routines.

“We sent them a video before they restarted to get them used to how things will be and this has really helped them.

“Our parents have been amazing at following the guidance we sent and dropping their children off at the right gate at the right time, which has made things much easier for us.

“The return to school for some children has gone really smoothly and we are now having lots of parents contact us asking for a return, who were not going to come back initially.”

Mr Smith said 104 children were now back at school in Rasen, from Reception, Year 1 and Year 6, as well as the children of key workers and vulnerable children.

In Reception 50 per cent of pupils went back, 62 per cent of Year 1 pupils returned and 57 per cent of children in Year 6. This represents 22 out of 44 children in Reception, 28 out of 45 pupils in Year 1 and 24 out of 42 in Year 6.
