£14m Skegness College campus to officially open as part of Gateway development

The official opening of Skegness College’s brand new £14 million campus will take place this month, marking the completion of the first phase of a major regeneration project for the town.

Located on Wainfleet Road, the campus forms Phase One of the Skegness Gateway development – a wider scheme expected to deliver more than 400 new affordable homes alongside new employment and investment opportunities.

The purpose-built Skegness TEC facility has been designed to provide modern teaching and training spaces, supporting local students and helping to develop skills needed by employers in the area.

It offers a variety of facilities purpose-built for vocational learning, including a care flat and hospital ward, a hairdressing and beauty salon, motor vehicle, plumbing, electrical, and construction workshops, as well as business IT suites.

The official opening of the campus will take place on Friday, January 23.

MP for Boston and Skegness Richard Tice was recently invited to view the plans for the wider Gateway development and welcomed the investment being made in Skegness.

He said: “The proposals for the new Skegness Gateway development will offer great opportunities for jobseekers with the opening of several new job positions, alongside significant investment within the region, with the construction of over 400 new affordable homes.

“Phase One of this transformational project is complete with the construction and opening of the student college, Skegness TEC.”

The completion of the college marks a key milestone in the Gateway project, creating further jobs in the coming years.
