Pupil beats hip dysplasia and raises £660 for NHS

A Skegness pupil who suffers hip dysplasia has raised £660 after challenging herself to complete 100 miles on various activities.

Bella, who attends the Richmond School, aimed to raise the money in a month during lockdown by biking, skating and running.

She was born with Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) but has always amazed her school with her 'unbelievable stamina, strength and determination'.

"I wanted to help the NHS because they have helped me a lot," said Bella, a Year 2 pupil of teacher Emma Chapman.

The school signed her up to Strava to track the mileage and encourage people to sponsor her.

In the end she finished a week ahead of plan, completing 101.9 miles in just 20 days.

Her longest jog was 2.2 miles, longest skate 2.5 miles and longest bike ride 11.3 miles.

"We are beyond proud of her," said Joanne Hazard of the Richmond School.
