School choir service at church

Children aged five to seven from Prospect Hill Infants and Nursery School performed three Christmas songs at The Crossing centre.

The concert was organised by the Salvation Army and raised around £300 for the hospice.

About 35 children are in the school choir which is taught by teacher Anna Latimer in after school sessions.

Prospect headteacher Kathryn Lancaster said: “We are very proud of them, they performed really well.”

“They sang three contemporary Christmas songs.”

Parent governor Paul Scopelliti’s five-year-old son Fabio is a member of the choir.

Mr Scopelliti said The Crossing performance was an amazing experience.

“To see them all stood there performing as competently as they did, without any fear, was just a joy to see,” he said.

“They sang their little hearts out and behaved themselves, they sat and listened for about an hour before singing. They obviously have a lot of respect for their teachers.”

“When we woke up the next morning and it had snowed, it was as though they had started Christmas off.”

He said the concert also helped to raise awareness of the Salvation Army’s work.

The choir performed their songs again at an end-of-term service for grandparents at Christ Church in Worksop, which the whole school attended.
