Four posters designed by Heckington schoolchildren are to go on display in the village to encourage dog owners to pick up after their four-legged friends when they are out and about with them.

Towards the end of last year, Heckington Parish Council invited youngsters at St Andrew’s CofE Primary School to take part in a design a poster competition and help highlight the issue of dog fouling in the community.

Two designs from each age group (Key Stage One and Two) were selected as winners and runners-up, and have now been turned into hard-wearing posters to go on display in the village.

The artists behind the designs, meanwhile, have been awarded prizes of £15 and £10 in WHSmith tokens for first and second place respectively.

“We had some fantastic entries from all ages,” a spokesman for the council said.

“Congratulations should go to all the children taking part – we really have some fab artists amongst us, and I think you will agree that the posters get the message across,” they added.
