The annual event was as usual a big success and a chance for schools to celebrate reading in their classes.

At Bicker Prep, as well as dressing up, pupils took part in a World Book Day Quiz, answering questions on literary themes.

Headteacher Mrs Julie Miles said: “Every child donated £2 for the privilege of dressing up today with proceeds being given to the PTFA. The quiz was an enormous success and our thanks go to Mr Newitt from the PTFA for designing and hosting the quiz.”

Boston West Academy is having a big drive on increasing children’s vocabulary, so children were invited to come dressed up to represent a word such as vibrant, creative, or majestic.

Each class did something to celebrate World Book Day whilst wearing their pyjamas at Gipsey Bridge Academy, ranging from building a den to read in, reading around a ‘camp fire’ and baking cakes.

Swineshead Pre-School saw staff re-enacting the Tiger Who Came To Tea. There was also a visit from Buzz and Mikey, the alpacas from the Ivy’s Farm Shop.

Children at St Mary’s and Boston Pioneers were also among those dressing up.
