Staff and sixth formers from a Market Rasen school are gearing up to scale England’s third highest peak to raise funds for two great causes.

On March 7 this year, the team will set out to climb the majestic Helvellyn in aid of Mind UK and De Aston School's own Eco Environment fund.

As well as the obvious mountaineering challenge, the school sees it as about standing together for mental health and environmental sustainability.

A De Aston School spokesperson said they are proud to support Mind UK, a charity dedicated to fostering a mentally healthy society.

“Additionally, we are committed to our De Aston Eco Environmental fund. Over the years, our dedicated students have raised an impressive £15,000 through various walks and challenges, including our beloved Deastonbury.”

The school is now poised on the brink of achieving its goal of installing solar panels on a section of the roof.

"This initiative will not only benefit our school but also contribute positively to our environment,” said the spokesperson.

They are asking people to donate towards the target of £750. Your contribution will be split equally between Mind UK and the De Aston Eco Environmental fund.

“Together, let’s climb higher for mental health awareness and environmental change,” they said.
