In a letter to parents seen by the Standard, new principal Jude Hunton wrote: "We have been made aware of a member of our school community who tested positive for COVID-19 over half-term.

"‘We know that you may find this concerning and we would like to reassure you that we are monitoring the situation and following the published guidance.

"The member of our community had not been present for eight days before experiencing symptoms."

The letter goes on to state: "They have not been in contact with other members of the SGS community so there is no further requirement for others to self-isolate."

The letter does not state whether it was a staff member or student who tested positive.

According to Lincolnshire County Council there are four other schools in the Skegness area with confirmed Covid-19 cases which have remained open - Great Steeping Primary School, Spilsby

Skegness Academy and King Edward V1 Academy, Spilsby..

Woodlands Academy, Spilsby, and Hogsthorpe Primary Academy have confirmed cases and have been closed.
