Sometimes even Louth grammar school students can be a little bit naughty…

King Edward VI Grammar School, established in Louth in 1551, today announced the successful first night of its three day run of Matilda The Musical JR at the Riverhead Theatre.
Fully sold out, the first reviews on social media have confirmed that the young cast delivered an outstanding performance to the delight of an audience made up of students, staff, parents, relatives, and members of the general public.
Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical JR is a musical adaptation designed for young performers, featuring a book by Dennis Kelly and music/lyrics by Tim Minchin. It follows a brilliant girl with special powers who overcomes her cruel parents and headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, through intelligence and imagination. The show includes popular songs like Naughty and Revolting Children.
“Putting on an annual show, not just for the school but for the whole community, is a proud tradition at King Edward’s,” explained Sam Cassidy, Headteacher.

“Our students get to perform in a real theatre to packed audiences, building confidence and showing off their many talents. The cast, the backstage crew and my colleagues involved in preparing and supporting the performance, have delivered another outstanding production at an almost professional level.”
Matilda the Musical JR is running at the Riverhead Theatre in Louth from 3rd February to 5th February. The show is currently sold out.
