Suzy Eddie Izzard Brings Shakespeare to Louth school pupils
World-renowned actor, comedian, fundraiser and campaigner Eddie Izzard – now known as Suzy - paid a visit to a Louth primary school to talk to pupils about Shakespeare this last week.
Suzy Eddie Izzard visited St Michael’s CofE Primary School on November 3, invited by the Creativity Academy, a Lincolnshire-based charity dedicated to inspiring creativity and confidence in young people.

Currently touring the world with her celebrated solo production The Tragedy of Hamlet, Izzard met with Key Stage 2 pupils and staff before performing selected scenes from her show — fresh from sellout runs in London and on Broadway.
The one-hour visit included a discussion between Izzard and Ben Keaton, multi award-winning actor, writer and director, and founder of the Creativity Academy. The two first worked together on the London comedy circuit
in the 1990s and talked about creativity, Shakespeare, and the life of a working artist.
“Our aim has always been to give children direct access to outstanding creative minds — to show them that art, performance and ideas belong to everyone,” said Ben, who felt the visit would be an unforgettable experience for the young people and “a brilliant reminder of what’s possible when imagination meets courage.”
The Creativity Academy is a registered charity based in East Lindsey. The visit forms part of the Academy’s ongoing programme to connect Lincolnshire pupils with artists of excellence, showing children that creativity, resilience and imagination are powerful lifelong skills.
Headteacher Sarah Addison added: “The Creativity Academy has been transformative for our children. It’s given them the freedom to experiment, fail safely and try again — skills that build confidence across every subject. “Having someone of Eddie Izzard’s calibre visit the school is an extraordinary opportunity for them.”
The Academy delivers year-long programmes in primary schools designed to cultivate creativity, resilience and self-belief. Working with teachers and visiting artists, the Academy encourages children to explore ideas through art, writing, performance and design — developing creative confidence that supports learning across the curriculum.
St Michael’s CofE Primary School has been part of the Creativity Academy programme for three years, integrating creative learning into its curriculum to strengthen pupils’ confidence, communication and curiosity.
