Video and pictures: Osgodby School children get on board with safety campaign

The primary school children, aged between 7 and 11, were asked by East Midlands Trains and the Market Rasen Station Adoption Group to come up with designs for new station posters for display at Market Rasen station, to promote the importance of safety on the railway.

“We were delighted to be involved with this project, it has helped educate the children about the importance of safety when travelling by rail, as well as being fun,” said head teacher Jill Fincham.

As a thank-you for their help with this project, East Midlands Trains managers visited the school to hand out goody bags, including inflatable beach balls, pencils and colouring books.

Then, teaming up with sister company Stagecoach Bus, the children and their teachers were treated to a trip on one of the award-winning open top Skegness Seasider Buses.

The bus took them to Market Rasen station to see their posters on display in the waiting room – and Stagecoach mascot Rocky joined in the fun, too.

“We’re really proud to have worked with the local station adoption group and the children from Osgodby School to do something really different at Market Rasen station,” said Rob Mercer, area station manager Lincoln for East Midlands Trains.
