The Covid-19 outbreak mean the awards were presented in a very different way than usual, but trust bosses felt it was vital to celebrate the outstanding achievements of their teams and individuals more than ever this year.

The United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust presented its awards to winners not a ceremony this year, but a series of surprise events across the trusts hospitals, which include Boston Pilgrim.

ULHT Chief Executive Andrew Morgan and Deputy CEO Mark Brassington toured the sites across Lincolnshire, presenting winners of each of the 12 categories with trophies, certificates and prizes in recognition of their excellence.

The awards celebrate staff and teams who go above and beyond for their patients, recognising unsung heroes, those who demonstrate compassion and respect and those who innovate to benefit patients.

Chief Executive Andrew Morgan said: “I am delighted to have been able to meet the winners, as this year, more than ever, our staff deserve to be recognised for the amazing job that they do day in, day out.

“We had more than 650 nominations for the awards this year, which really shows just how amazing our staff are and how highly regarded they are by their peers and patients.

“Entries for this year’s awards closed before the COVID-19 pandemic began, so these awards recognise excellence before the challenging few months we’ve just had. I imagine that next year’s awards will be even more successful and show some even greater dedication and talent.”

As well as the winners, highly commended entries in each category are receiving certificates in recognition of their extraordinary efforts.

Trust Chair Elaine Baylis said: ‘’Every year the awards highlight the commitment by staff to deliver high quality care to our patients.

“This year was no different. It was a delight to read the nominations and really hard to make the final decisions. I hope that all those who were nominated are really proud that their work has been recognised in this way and I offer my congratulations to all the winners.’’
