Applause and flowers for NHS workers at Skegness Hospital

NHS workers at Skegness Hospital had a surprise delivery of pots of blue flowers ahead of the third 'Clap for Carers' event to say 'thank you' for their amazing efforts.

Steve Matthews, of Discount Plants, delivered 50 pots of Senetti for staff at the hospital this afternoon (Thursday).

"The hospital looked after me really well when I had my heart attack," he said. "NHS staff are doing an amazing job at the moment and I just wanted to show my gratitude."

One staff member said: "It's a really lovely gesture. It means a lot to think people are behind us."

Thousands across the county have joined the Clap for Carers over the last two weeks, and the plan is to keep it going throughout the coronavirus lockdown.

People are urged to show their appreciation by stepping out of their front doors or opening their window and clapping and cheering at 8pm tonight.
