Billingborough GP practice rated '˜outstanding'

A Billingborough GP practice has been rated as outstanding following an inspection in January.

A report by the Care Quality Commission says the New Springwells practice is outstanding in caring, leadership and in its response to people’s needs.

It also said it was good in providing safe services and good in providing effective services.

The report says the practice has high levels of staff satisfaction and feedback from patients about their care was consistently positive.

The practice, it says, made improvements as a result of the feedback.

The report also says the practice has good facilities and is well equipped to treat patients and meet their needs.

The practice monitored patient demand so it was able to respond to the demand in a short space of time.

An extra GP appointment session was held from 7am to 8.30am in times of high demand.

The report says: “The practice had a vision and strategy in place driven by quality and safety which reflected compassion, dignity and respect.

“All staff we spoke to felt engaged in this vision and strategy through regular practice meetings and a strong team culture at the practice.”

Dr Jonathan Parry, senior partner at the New Springwells Practice said: “The result pays great testament to the dedication and commitment of the whole practice team.

“Hard work and dedication has been our philosophy for many years, therefore may this ethos continue in the future.

“We do acknowledge there are challenges faced by all GP practices, especially around access and to address this we have introduced an additional appointment session to help during times of high demand.

“We are continually looking at ways of introducing innovative ways to deliver accessible health care to our local community.”

Christine Schofield, a Registered Nurse and practice manager, said: “As a practice we are absolutely delighted that the CQC has recognised the work we do and given us an outstanding rating.

“We continually look at ways of improving our services to all of our patients and listen to all comments and suggestions.

“Where possible we respond and make positive changes.

“This rating is a reward for the hard work and commitment that the entire team at the practice have contributed to.”

The practice has about 6,200 patients registered with it.
